It's been said the only real job of
California's lieutenant governor is to get up every
morning, make sure the governor is still alive, and then
go back to bed. But while the job has few formal
duties, it will take center stage this afternoon as a
senate committee considers Governor Schwarzenegger's

legislature may not be so eager to hand Maldonado a
promotion. Reporter: John Myers
