Sizing Up the November Ballot Measures

Midnight was the deadline for the secretary of state to certify measures for the November ballot, and 10 have made the cut. They range from redistricting to a bid to suspend the state's effort to control greenhouse gases, to the one that's most likely to drive turnout up: legalizing non-medicinal marijuana. Speech Puts Spotlight on Private Foundations at Public Universities

Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin's appearance at a fundraiser for the California State University at Stanislaus tonight has sparked controversy for months. The nonprofit foundation that's sponsoring Palin's appearance claims to be a separate entity from the university, and thus not required to disclose speakers' fees. Reporter: Sasha Khokha
