Etta James performs at the 2009 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
Two legendary California musicians died this week. Singer Etta James, whose sultry voice helped her earn four Grammys, died Friday morning in Riverside at the age of 73. She was discovered in San Francisco by Johnny Otis, one of the all-time great music innovators, known as the "Godfather of Rhythm and Blues." Otis died Tuesday at the age of 90. Music critics Steve Hochman and Andrew Gilbert join us for a remembrance.
