California State University trustees have long argued they need the financial freedom to compete with private schools when hiring for top talent. But ever-expanding six-figure salaries have sparked criticism from students all the way up to Governor Brown. Yesterday, CSU's board bowed to the pressure -- and voted to install a salary cap.
