As budget negotiations go down to the wire in Sacramento, Governor Jerry Brown is pushing for deeper social welfare cuts than top Democratic lawmakers are willing to make. Critics say the kinds of cuts Brown wants will push the poor deeper into poverty. Reporter: Julie Small
Tuesday night, the Senate Budget Committee approved $10.5 million to open and operate two new veterans' homes in Fresno and Redding. But Governor Jerry Brown's budget proposal doesn't provide for the homes, meaning they might not open for another two years. About 200 vets and their supporters rallied in front of the empty Fresno home yesterday. Reporter: Alice Daniel
