State Will Charge Homeowners for Fire Prevention

Approximately 800,000 rural homeowners across the state will find a new bill in their mailboxes soon. It's a fee meant to offset fire protection costs, and it comes at a time of deep budget cuts for the state's firefighting agency, CAL FIRE. Reporter: Alice Daniel


State's New Prison Medical Facility Under Construction

California is building the largest prison medical facility in the nation in Stockton. The state is under the gun to comply with a federal court order to improve health care for inmates. The massive complex constitutes a whole new way of addressing serious health care needs in the state's prison system. Reporter: Julie Small
