Right in the middle of winter citrus season, California growers are in a pitched battle against a tiny bug from south Asia. This week a quarantine goes into effect in Tulare County in a bid to stop the spread of the Asian Citrus Psyllid to other parts of the state -- but it may be too late.

A few weeks ago, the Legislative Analyst's Office in Sacramento said there's light at the end of the tunnel in terms of the state budget crisis. California might even start running surpluses in a couple of fiscal years. But in the meantime, school districts still have to make do with tight budgets. When it comes to extracurricular programs, districts have to find funding wherever they can. In California's Central Valley, the Firebaugh-Las Deltas School District is using a particularly creative concept. Reporter: Alice Daniel
