Salon magazine founder David Talbot has announced he is stepping down as editor, a decade after his Web venture was launched in San Francisco with lots of fanfare. His longtime deputy Joan Walsh is taking over. Stanford journalism professor David Weir was there at Salon's inception and in the heady days before the dot-com bubble burst.
