Cracking Down on Student Drinking

First-year college students started arriving on campuses around the state this week which means colleges will once again be confronted by student drinking. Earlier this year, a student nearly died at a Chico State frat party and U.C. Berkeley banned alcohol at fraternities and sororities this spring after a party ended in a brawl. As Sarah Varney reports, at least two California schools are now using the Internet to tackle an old problem. Reporter: Sarah Varney


Dealing in Casino Workers

The spread of Indian casinos in California is generating a big need for people to work at the gaming tables and behind the scenes. A crop of casino schools scattered throughout San Diego County and a new institute at San Diego State University is trying to meet that need. Poisoned Workers Fight for Justice

Chinese workers have been a part of California history since the Gold Rush. Early Chinese laborers built the railroads and today, immigrants from China are part of the state's high-tech manufacturing. But just as in the early days, the immigrant worker's life is often difficult -- with low pay, and sometimes dangerous working conditions. In the Bay Area, hundreds of Chinese immigrant factory workers were exposed to high levels of arsenic. Reporter Jason Margolis tells us that several years later, they're still fighting for justice. Buddhist Temple Nurtures Community

Starting this weekend, thousands of Californians will join people from all over the world in a remote Nevada desert for the annual celebration known as "Burning Man." Over the years, Burning Man has developed a reputation for drugs, non-conformity and lots of nudity - but for many participants, Burning Man is really about art.
