North Koreans Ask for Asylum

A group of North Korean illegal immigrants in Los Angeles is pushing for political asylum in the U.S. Two years ago, Congress passed the North Korean Human Rights Act, which was supposed to make it easier for refugees who escaped North Korea to get asylum. A Salty History of California's Largest Lake

Fifty miles southeast of Palm Springs lies an environmental quagmire known as the Salton Sea. The Salton Sea was formed by accident a century ago, when a canal along the Colorado River broke, spilling water into the dry salt basin. For a time in the 1950s and '60s, the resulting lake flourished as a tourist resort. Today the Salton Sea is stagnant, best known for dead fish and sick birds. The new documentary "Plagues and Pleasures on the Salton Sea" takes a whimsical look at the Sea's colorful history and eccentric residents.
