Fifty miles southeast of Palm Springs lies an environmental quagmire known as the Salton Sea. The Salton Sea was formed by accident a century ago, when a canal along the Colorado River broke, spilling water into the dry salt basin. For a time in the 1950s and '60s, the resulting lake flourished as a tourist resort. Today the Salton Sea is stagnant, best known for dead fish and sick birds. The new documentary "Plagues and Pleasures on the Salton Sea" takes a whimsical look at the Sea's colorful history and eccentric residents. Guest: Chris Metzler , co-director of "Plagues and Pleasures on the Salton Sea".
