Illegal Immigration Debate Heads to the Senate

It has been a week of protests organized by supporters of immigrant rights: a hunger strike in San Francisco, a rally in Sacramento, and a high school walk-out in L.A. All were protesting a bill passed by the House that cracks down on undocumented immigrants. More demonstrations are planned over the weekend in anticipation of Monday's meeting of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee. A High-Speed Train Between L.A. and Las Vegas?

Heavy traffic can tack a couple of hours onto the normal five-hour drive between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, especially on weekends. Congress has authorized $45 million to study an alternative to that ribbon of tail lights along I-15: a high-speed magnetic-levitation train.Reporter: Susan Valot
