Travel any highway leading into the Sierra Nevada and you'll see sprawling subdivisions overtaking family farms and ranches. Houses and shopping malls sprout where vegetables grew and cattle used to graze. Earning a living in agriculture in the Sierra foothills means finding ways to make profitable connections with the millions of suburban residents living close by. One way is agricultural tourism.
