Almost a year after President Bush sent thousands of National Guard troops to the U.S. border with Mexico to help stop the flow of immigrants crossing illegally into the U.S., officials say the number of illegal crossings has dropped significantly. There have been 27% fewer apprehensions in the past four months alone. The crackdown has led to more violence along the border and bigger risks for immigrants who continue to seek the American dream.
