California has a colorful history with a "can-do" spirit dating back to the Gold Rush. But there are signs we've lost a little of that bounce in our step -- at least for now. It comes by way of a new survey from the Public Policy Institute of California. The study finds state residents with strikingly high levels of pessimism about our economic future. In fact, 59 percent of residents expect bad economic times in the next year. Mark Baldassare directed the survey and says it isn't just the middle class that's feeling jittery about its financial future.
