If you work in the newsroom at the San Jose Mercury News, you were instructed by management to wait at home this morning.
If you didn't get a call telling you that you'd lost your job, you could then come to work. Newspapers across California have
suffered similar losses this week -- The Los Angeles Times, The Los Angeles Daily News and the Long Beach Press Telegram are
