Wallace Stegner belongs in the pantheon of writers who chronicled and celebrated the American West. At Stanford University in the 1950s and 60s, Stegner was also a highly regarded teacher and mentor to aspiring writers including Larry McMurtry, Wendell Berry and Ken Kesey. This weekend a literary conference celebrating Stegner's work takes place in Pt. Reyes Station. Host Scott Shafer talks to writer Philip Fradkin, who helped create the event.
