With all eyes on the Democratic contendors for the White House, the state primary election yesterday did not draw much of
a crowd to the polls. Fewer than 1 in 5 registered voters showed up in some parts. But across California, political careers
riding on the primary scored sweet victories, bitter defeats, or in some cases, a runoff battle in November. That could be
the case for Sacramento Mayor Heather Fargo and her challenger, former NBA star Kevin Johnson. With more results, we speak

A group of farmworkers who have walked for miles carrying two wooden coffins will arrive in Sacramento today. Their journey
began four days ago near the vineyards of Lodi, where a 17-year-old farmworker died of heat exhaustion last month. Her death
