Wildfires Left to Burn

With most of the state's 2,000-plus wildfires now under control, the sense of crisis we felt a few weeks ago has dissipated. Firefighters are hoping to contain the biggest blaze near Big Sur by next week, but up in the northern reaches of California there are still almost a dozen wildfires on thousands of acres in remote areas. We report on why fire officials plan to let those fires burn -- uncontrolled -- for the rest of the summer. Reporter: David Gorn

Keeping Watch Over Wildfires

More than 12,000 people across California have worked to get the recent fires under control. Some are perched above forests, scanning the horizon for lightning strikes and smoldering trees in hopes of snuffing out trouble before it spreads. We pay a visit to one woman who's spent the last 20 fire seasons living in a remote tower in Giant Sequoia National Monument. Reporter: Sasha Khokha
