Egrets are generally regarded as among the more benign of California's winged residents. Their graceful, leggy forms are bright spots in the landscape, feeding in shallow ditches along the road or gliding calmly over golf courses. But in one Sacramento Valley town, they may be about to wear out their welcome. About 2,000 snowy egrets and black-crested night herons have taken up residence in a downtown park.
