Mariachi Plaza in East Los Angeles is famous for the musicians who have long congregated there waiting to be hired. Each year, hundreds of them turn out on November 22nd for a procession and mass honoring Saint Cecilia, the patron of musicians. Like so many others, musicians are feeling the pinch of a slowing economy, and organizers moved the celebration to this week so that mariachis wouldn't have to give up their work on the weekend.
