A group of university scientists in Los Angeles have formed a new organization to publicly counter opponents of animal research.
Some of these opponents have tried to drive home their point with fire bombings, vandalism, and intimidation in several incidents
in California in recent years. But scientists say they will stand up for their work, and plan to attend a rally at UCLA on

Next month's special election features six ballot measures, crafted by the legislature and Governor Schwarzenegger, to change
the state budget process. But only one promises both a long-term change and a short-term fix: Proposition 1A. In part one,
