State Agencies Told to Buy Less

The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis reports California's real GDP actually grew four tenths of a percent last year. That mildly good news is unlikely to make a dent in the state's budget crisis. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has ordered state agencies to cancel their orders for everything from office supplies to fuel for state cars. Reporter: Sasha Khokha


Summer School Cuts Hit Poor Families Hardest

School districts across the state are bracing for deep cuts in state funding. Some, such as Los Angeles Unified, are drastically reducing their summer school offerings, leaving parents and kids scrambling. Reporter: Rob Schmitz
