"Chop from the top" was the angry battle cry of unions representing workers at the University of California this week. As UC regents considered emergency furloughs to help close an $800 million budget gap, protesters demanded more cuts from the compensation packages of top administrators. During a lunch break at the regents meeting in San Francisco this week, we sat down with UC President Mark Yudof to discuss where spending cuts leave the university.
