As Congress works on bills to expand health
coverage to more Americans, some analysts are urging
lawmakers to look west and learn from San Francisco's
experience with health care reform. That may be a tough
pill to swallow for Republicans, who see the city as a
laboratory of wacky ideas. But three years ago, the city
began offering health care access to all residents who
aren't covered at work or through Medicaid. Researchers
are just now getting some of the early results.Reporter: Sarah Varney

After health care, the other issue on the front
burner in Washington is Afghanistan. Last week, a group
of anti-war advocates from California visited that
nation, where the results of a controversial election
are still up in the air. They had unusual access to
Afghan officials and ordinary people there -- and the
trip took some unexpected turns. Reporter: Reese Erlich
For more than a decade, California peach farmer
David Mas Masumoto has been harvesting more than just
fruit on his Central Valley land. He's shared a bounty
of lessons and observations about life with his readers,
and his listeners on public radio. Masumoto's latest
book "Wisdom of the Last Farmer" recounts his father's
recovery from a stroke -- an illness that forced him to
re-learn farming from the son he taught to farm.

When a food truck started driving around Los
Angeles last fall serving Korean BBQ -- in tortillas --
it set off a food frenzy. Kogi Korean BBQ announced its
locations using Twitter, winning national media
attention, more than 40,000 followers and triggering a
new culinary craze in the process. In San Francisco, it
seems like a new renegade food cart hits the streets
every week. We take to the streets to sample some of the
latest mobile food offerings. Reporter: Lisa Morehouse
