Redistricting Initiative Challenged in Court
A battle over one of Governor Schwarzenegger's initiatives will likely be heard in court this week. State Attorney General Bill Lockyer has filed a lawsuit asking that the redistricting initiative, Proposition 77, be pulled from the special election ballot because the petitions signed by voters didn't use the official initiative language.

Congress to Debate Renewal of Endangered Species Act
Congress this week is expected to debate reauthorization of the Endangered Species Act, a law that helped bring back the California condor and many other creatures. The act's chief critic is Republican Congressman Richard Pombo from the Central Valley, who has had a long history of fighting against environmental rules.
