For a Judge, A First-Hand Look at the Execution Chamber
Judge Jeremy Fogel, a federal judge who is considering whether California's way of executing inmates constitutes cruel and unusual punishment, has gotten a rare glimpse into the way those executions are carried out. Judge Fogel and about a dozen other observers toured San Quentin's execution chamber yesterday as part of a unusual fact-finding mission.
