Local Marijuana Laws Face Scrutiny From Calif. Court

Mendocino County's effort to regulate medical marijuana is facing increased scrutiny of federal prosecutors, and there's growing uncertainty about its future. Within the next four weeks, the state Supreme Court could also weigh in on whether local governments can issue permits for medical marijuana collectives.

Supporters of California's medical marijuana law have filed suit in all four U.S. judicial districts in California, challenging a federal crackdown on cannabis enterprises. That pressure from the feds is also threatening a unique effort to regulate marijuana production in Mendocino County.
